Congratulations to the following students and their coaches who competed and placed in UIL Academics at the Flour Bluff Invitational on Saturday, February 8th:
In Journalism, Kayley Martinez placed 3rd in Editorial Writing and Mercedes Naranjo placed 3rd in Feature Writing.
In Social Studies, Jacob Gutierrez placed 2nd and Isabella Mendoza placed 5th. The Social Studies Team placed 2nd overall.
The Literary Criticism Team placed 3rd overall.

Today we hosted our future Trojans from Cunningham @ South Park for a day of "building bridges" as they prepare to transition into a program of study at Moody HS. They were able to see if they want to explore careers in Engineering/Drones, Welding, Medical Professionals, Law Enforcement, Education & Training, Graphic Design, or Culinary Arts. Moody counselors will be visiting these 8th graders at their campus to finalize their course selections. See you soon! 🖤💛💙

The following UIL Academics teams competed at the Tuloso-Midway Invitational on Saturday 2/1: Journalism, Ready Writing, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Accounting, Current Issues and Events, Poetry and Prose, and Mathematics.
Here are our results:
In Journalism, Mercedes Naranjo earned 1st place in Copy Editing, 6th place in News Writing, 6th place in Feature Writing, and 4th place in Editorial Writing. Kayley Martinez earned 4th place in Headline Writing.
In Ready Writing, Brianna Villarreal earned 1st place, Marissa Trevino earned 2nd place, and Samara Flores earned 4th place.
In Speech and Debate, Yasmin Salgado placed 4th, Riley Villa placed 5th, and Katherine Greene placed 6th for Poetry. Adriel Cisneros placed 4th and Isiah Chavez placed 5th for Prose.
In Accounting, Aeralyn Arellano and Ishaa Leon tied for 3rd place and Madison Reyes earned 5th place. The entire Accounting Team also earned 1st PLACE as a team.
The Calculator Applications Team earned 3rd place overall.
We also participated in the Center ISD Roughrider virtual UIL Tournament for Journalism, Ready Writing, and Social Studies. (Journalism and Ready Writing scores were not reported/posted)

Dear Moody Trojan Families,
The Middle of Year Universal Screener (MOY) testing window begins on January 13th and will conclude on January 31st. The purpose of these screeners is to help teachers continue to gather baseline data on course-specific skills to monitor student progress throughout the school year.
We will follow a block schedule for the first 3 days of this testing window to ensure students have sufficient time for the longer assessments. Please review the schedule and remind our Trojans to arrive on time. Thanks for all your support! 💙💛
